Abstract

This paper analyses the use and potential of thermal anemometry and high-frequency measurements of sand flux in the harsh environment of particle-laden air flows. It reports the development and testing of both an armoured hot-wire system for field and laboratory use and a new, non-intrusive, optical sensor for the detection of aeolian mass flux in wind tunnels
