Mass balance of the Greenland ice sheet : can modern observation methods reduce the uncertainty?

The purpose of this paper is to point to methods that have the potential to reduce the uncertainty of estimates of the long-term mass balance of the ice-sheet. Studies of the Greenland ice sheet will be used as an illustration. The focus will be on airborne and satellite remote sensing methods. Remote sensing observations combined with ice sheet modelling seems an alternative way of obtaining long-term and short-term ice sheet contributions to sea-level change
