Abstract

A record of detrended mean high water (MHW) variations from Hammock River marsh, Connecticut, is extended from 850 to 500 cal yr A.D. The A. compares it with temperature time series from northern Fennoscandia, northern Eurasia, Greenland, and the Sargasso Sea, as well as with a recent record of deep-ocean flow in the Iceland Basin. The main goal is to determine whether this longer and broader database confirms or challenges the positive sea level-climate correlation reported by van de Plassche et al. (1998a)
