Major end moraines of Younger Dryas age on Wollaston Peninsula, Victoria Island, Canadian Arctic : implications for paleoclimate and for formation of hummocky moraine

Authors(s) and Affiliation(s)

This paper presents a re-interpretation of part of a large moraine complex in the western Canadian Arctic. The AA. show that these moraines locally span much of the Younger Dryas interval. They may represent a regional response to Youger Dryas conditions rather than massive regional ice stagnation during pre-Younger Dryas time. The characteristics of these moraines have some general implications for interpretation of hummocky moraine south of current permafrost limits
