Abstract

This work was begun to determine if fossil foraminifera, preserved in Holocene sediments of the lower River Murray estuary, could be used to discriminate episodes of predominantly euryhaline, estuarine-lagoonal influence from contrasting episodes of pronounced incursion of seawater from the Southern Ocean. Furthermore, once recognized, it was intended to place such episodes within a time frame of radiocarbon ages and to assess whether the results contained a paleoclimatic signature
