Abstract

Dinoflagellate cyst and pollen records from marine sediments off the southwestern African coast reveal 3 major aridification periods since the last glaciation and an environmental correlation between land and sea. The pollen signal reflects vegetation and climate changes in the northern Namib, the Angolan-Namibian highlands, and the nothwestern Kalahari. The synchronous dinocyst and pollen records show linkages between ocean and continent
