River response to variations of periglacial climate in mid-latitude Europe
published at : Quaternary fluvial archives
This paper deals with the fluvial evolution of a selection of European rivers during the Middle Weichselian (oxygen isotope stages 2,3 and 4). Two sequences in the Leipzig area and the Niederlausitz in eastern Germany are presented, and the fluvial evolution as a function of climate change is discussed. This comparison of well-datedfluvial sequences with the climatic and vegetation records results in a more refined general model for climate-related river evolution in periglacial environments
