Abstract

A contribution devoted to the period (1895-1995) of a long-term geopolitical and geoeconomic development. The large-scale changes are divided into two main parts. The first era (1895-1945) included the peace time and the prevailing prosperity until the First World War in the Austrian-Hungarian Empire. It is followed by a mere 20 years development of the First Czechoslovakia. The second stage after the World War Two is marked with the complete nationalisation in the centrally planned economy. Special interest is given to the changes in the transition period after November 1989. - (MS)
