Applied climatology

Authors(s) and Affiliation(s)

This review is devoted to a methodology becoming increasingly popular among applied climatologists: downscaling. Downscaling typically involves the use of larger-scale general circulation model output to find inter-relationships between the large-scale circulation and local and regional-scale climate conditions, both for present-day climate and for that of the future. The remainder of this review is devoted to recent articles or monographs examining applied climatological aspects of world food security, Caspian Sea level variations and cold region applications in studies of snow loading and icing problems
