Abstract

The attempts by the Durban municipality to segregate Indians from Whites prior to the 1950 Group Areas Act are examined. A fair degree of separation resulted from a series of measures culminating in the 1946 Asiatic Land Tenure and Indian Representation Act. - (AJC)
