Abstract

A geographic information system (GIS) is utilized to model wetness potential for a portion of Uwharrie National Forest, North Carolina. The wetness index is derived from TOPMODEL, a hillslope-scale runoff simulation model. This research evaluates 3 methods of representing soil data in the GIS for use in deriving a model of wetness potential on a cell-by-cell basis throughout the study area
