Abstract

Corals from marine terrace deposits of the Pacific coast of North America show some open-system effects with respect to U isotopes. Secondary addition of [234]U is observed and implies that some apparent ages are probably minima. Some variability exists in apparent ages from single deposits, and the AA. conclude that multiple analyses from a given deposit are desirable before it is possible to resolve precise age assignments or determine the duration of particular sea-level high stands
