Abstract

Such perils continue to do damage and generate high insurance costs. As a result insurers are taking steps to limit their future losses. A better understanding of the dynamic processes can reduce the insurance problems that arise out of responding to perceptions rather than to reality. The physical geographer has a distinct role in providing such an understanding
