Abstract

In this study, the AA. analysed a series of aerial photographs, the age distribution of floodplain deposits and sedimentation data of reservoirs in order to understand sediment routing in mountain rivers. The main rivers investigated were the Saru River and the Higashi-gouchi River located in Hokkaido and Shizuoka Prefectures, northern and central districts of Japan. The age distribution of floodplain deposits available for three other rivers, the Furano, Nunobe and Haruki is also investigated
