Abstract

The Upper Nepean Water Supply Scheme (4 large dams, 2 small dams and 2 diversion weirs) is outlined before secular rainfall changes in the Upper Nepean Catchment are discussed. The effects of flow regulation on flood frequency and flow duration during FDRs (flood-dominated regimes) and DDRs (drought-dominated regimes) are then determined before quantifying the downstream reduction in sediment loads caused by impoundment. Lastly, the implications of the results for the environmmental streamflow requirements of the upper Nepean River are discussed
