Abstract

The A. investigates the appropriateness of the neighborhood concept as a basic planning unit in developing countries. He tests the hypothesis that the western neighborhood unit does not conform with the socio-cultural characteristics of developing countries. He thinks that the local urban traditions could provide planning units that better suit the local characteristics of each country
