Abstract

This paper explains the detection of slackwater deposits within a humid climatic setting and use of these deposits in paleoflood reconstruction. Assessing the flood frequency distribution of rare floods in the south-central Great Plains will contribute to the knowledge of paleoclimate and landscape evolution. Records of such events are useful in planning human use of floodplains and adjacent property
