Erosional effects of cattle on streambanks in Tennessee, U.S.A.
The present study is a 5.8 year controlled experiment to investigate morphological differences between ungrazed streambanks and those grazed in accordance with regional management practice, intended to identify the potential effects that such grazing might have on stream sediment loads. The hypothesis was that both mechanical (hoof) erosion and bank scour would be increased by the cattle, and that significant amounts of sediment would be produced for downstream transport
