Abstract

The transportation of suspended sediments and total dissolved solids (TDS) by the River Fyris, in the Central Swedish Lowlands, was studied. Specific aims of the investigation were to establish time series of suspended sediment and TDS, with particular reference to the aspect of spatial and temporal variation. Also, the present sediment transportation rates were to be compared with those in the thirties, trying to establish possible influences of land use. The variation of annual mean suspended sediment concentrations was found mainly to be due to channel gradient and drainage density on silt and clay
