The temporal discontinuity in geomorphic processes that is responsible for time-scale dependence in published process rates (Gardner et al., 1987) is effectively modeled by a fractal construction, the Cantor dust. Fractal dimension values estimated for processes of uplift (0.75) and denudation (0.81) suggest that uplift events are only slightly more clustered in time than are denudation events. The results obtained from application of this model are unaffected by variability in magnitude of events
