Abstract

This article considers the role of progressive changes which occur within individual horizons to produce an increasingly differentiated soil cover. The increasing internal differentiation of the soil cover has complex effects on its hydrological response. This research represented the first attempt to link the mechanical properties of developing regolith with slope angle changes over geological time, and is a significant milestone in the integration of engineering soil mechanical principles and slope stability analyses with geomorphological considerations of long-term slope development
