Abstract

The AA. propose a model of tufa sedimentation and analyse the factors controlling the location and development of the tufa structures in the Mijares River canyon (eastern Iberian range). They pay special attention to neotectonic activity of faults as an agent that controls the morphotopographical and hydrodynamic context in which tufa development takes place during the Quaternary. Estimates of tufa deposition rates have also been calculated
