Abstract

Total fertility rate is actually lower in eastern Europe than in the West. In Czech Republic the current TFR (1992-1996) is among the lowest despite comparatively less painful transition. The fertility variation are examined by time change, community size and region. Weak differentiation of fertility figures according to community size and regional perspectives was particularly striking. - (MS)
