Abstract

The objectives of this study are : 1) to assess soil losses due to root crop harvesting (SLRH), for 2 common root crops in central Belgium, chicory roots (both witloof chicory and inuline chicory) and sugar beet; 2) to investigate factors controlling the spatial and temporal variation of SLRH, and 3) to evaluate the contribution of this soil degradation process to overall soil loss in the study area
