HUNZIGER H. ;

Abstract

Study of the hydrology of the subtropical moist montane forests (Yungas) in Argentina's Tucuman province. Study site on the eastern slope of the Sierra de San Javier also included land cleared for lemon and sugarcane plantations. Recording rain gauges and fog catchers installed at three elevations to study vertical and horizontal precipitation. Stream-gauging station and experimental test plots also used. Finding that deforestation has altered the area's hydrology, author calls for a watershed management plan for sustainable development. - (SLD)
