Abstract

Lapse rates are used for modeling meltwater production. Report on the lapse rates calculated from slope air temperatures measured over two snowmelt seasons at high-elevation stations in Punjab Himalaya, Pakistan. The calculated lapse rates are higher than those generally reported in other studies due to high thermal regime of area and incidence of snow cover at higher elevations. Because of variations in the lapse rates from station to station to season, author cautions in their use. - (SLD)
