Abstract

Report on on-going project to measure the amount of soil loss due to agriculture extending into the Venezuelan Andes above 3,000 m. a.s.l. Unlike data-intensive studies in developed countries, this study relies on a geomorphological analysis in which transects of natural and agricultural soils with normalized slopes, parent materials, and age are compared for soil loss. Goal is to predict crop yield chenges and loss of revenue over time. - (SLD)
