Abstract

This work is part of Ph.D. thesis studying the development in land use in Northern Ghana. SPOT satellite imagery is used in combination with other map data, analysing being carried out in a GIS. It is the aim here to demonstrate how satellite remote sensing can be used as a tool in a wider geographical context, in this case the evaluation of the impact of a large riverblindness eradication program (the OCP-project) on land use and settlement patterns in a smaller area in Northern Ghana
