Influence des événements climatiques du passé sur les fluctuations actuelles des glaciers

Authors(s) and Affiliation(s)

The influence of a climatic event on a glacial system includes the synchronous and epichronous components and lasts during the relaxation time, until the ice formed during the event remains the component of the system. The relationships developed allow to calculate the length and the position of a glacier front, corresponding to climatic conditions. The relay mechanism of glacier movements is suggested. The difference in relaxation time is the reason of different behavior of glacier fronts under existing climatic conditions, and results in non-synchronous formation of moraine ridges. The oscillations of glaciers in the Caucasus and Tibet mountains are analysed
