Abstract

The former homelands of South Africa are characterised by extreme poverty, high levels of urban dependence, a reliance on pensions and low levels of agricultural production. A cas study in the Eastern Cape illustrates the importance of pensions and the contraints which face current plans to develop and expand the periodic marketing network. - (AJC)
