Abstract

Four simulation models are used to estimate the evapotranspiration rates and irrigation water requirements of corn, drybean, soybean and sugarbeet production in the Saginaw Bay basin. The availability of streamflow for irrigation supply is evaluated in the mass balance equation to determine if the available water resources are sufficient to meet the crop's irrigation water requirements. GIS is used to process and analyze the data sets of soils, climate, and water resource features to provide inputs to the simulation models
