Abstract

The Mediterranean region is an area of heterogeneity. Consequently the Mediterranean agriculture is an agro-ecological strategy, an adjustment to particular climatic conditions in Mediterranean zones. In traditional agriculture the components could be combined in an integrated system. In modern, specialized agriculture the Mediterranean agriculture to a higher degree becomes a type on a regional level. Agricultural types determine the landuse and are important for the development of rural landscapes
