Abstract

A new method for defining the extent of a mountain, mountain ordering, is proposed, and is used to examine the morphological characteristics of a set of ordered mountains in northern Japan. As an example of geomorphometry based on the method of mountain ordering, mountain order and the number, area and height for mountains of each order were determined for these mountains
