Abstract

Paper focuses on the purification of Pralltown, a black shantytown initially on the outskirts of Lexington, Kentucky and later located near prime business property. After Civil War, former slaves were encouraged to relocate there for the separation of the races. In the 1960s, the city used the Urban Renewal program to disperse Pralltown residents through Lexington. - (SLD)
