Abstract

Author determines the impact of human activity on the Majove Desert adjacent to developing cities. Three suburban-to-rural transects and one control site were established near the city of Ridgecrest. Each transect was rated for ten types of carried out along each transect. Cumulative impact ratings and the number of ground squirrel captures increased as the edge of development was approached. Discussion of implications of unexpected results. - (SLD)
