Two-way migration in a model with identical optimizing agents

The analysis shows that once the important role that consumption opportunities plays in location decisions is recognized, minor variants of existing models provide an understanding of motivations for two-ways movement. An analysis incorporating price and amenity differentials predicts complex sets of movements. As the system moves toward a stable population distribution, individuals move both in and out of growing locations. Forces assumed to induce utility equalization across locations do not operate as the simple static model would imply
