Abstract

This paper describes the spatial mosaic patterns in surface soil moisture recorded in a gully catchment in central Spain, during dry and wet weather conditions. The implications of these observed spatial patterns for the hydrology, erosion and management of gullied areas is discussed, as well as the possibility of manipulating soil variation to create a self regulating system for runoff and erosion control
