A study on the relation between water cycle and groundwater quality in Sri lanka

Authors(s) and Affiliation(s)

Groundwater quality is determined by interaction of principal environment factors such as climate, topography, geology and biota. In this study, groundwater quality was investigated in western Sri Lanka where climate condition changes greatly whithin a relatively short distance. Sri Lanka is spatially divided into a dry zone, an intermediate zone and a wet zone, and there are rainy and dry seasons. Zonation of groundwater quality was made clear using field investigation, chemical and isotopic analyses methods
