After a discussion of theories of international migration and a sketch of the economic and political context of Mexican, and more specifically Oaxacan, migration to the USA, the A. describes and explains the migration process of the Zapotecs from a dynamic and multi-level perspective. Specific attention is paid to the historical and current migration patterns, to the role of social networks and a comparison of the migration experiences of the Zapotecs with their fellow Mixtec and Mestizo countrymen. - (AGD)
