Abstract

Using field data and a population growth model, Chesneya clearly modifies the habitat of a recessional moraine north of the Annapurna Massif in the Nepal Himalaya. Its presence has the effect of capturing increased snow depth in the vicinity of hummocks. Patches of this plant also have increased soil depth and organic composition and higher soil temperatures caused by a decreased surface albedo and increased thermal insulation. However, the question posed in the article title remains to be demonstrated. - (DWG)
