The role of the small town of San Isidro in the migration processes in Costa Rica is examined, particularly the town's role vi-à-vis the surrounding rural expulsion area. The research findings are viewed in light of Skeldon's migration model. The A. disagrees with Skeldon's sweeping statement for it is an over-simplified representation of reality. It also put forward that the development of the production structure turns out to play a significant role in the migration process. -(AGD)
