Abstract

In the nineteenth century, the Dutch economy underwent a transition from a stagnant mercantilist system to a dynamic system of production, based on industry and modern services. The path this transformation took, and its exact timing are not yet fully understood. The main purpose of this study is the construction of the national account capital formation for different sectors of infrastructure in the Netherlands during the 1800-1913 period. Moreover, its significance to macroeconomic development was to be analysed. -(AGD)
