Abstract

The paper aims at positioning spatial development at the crossroads of the conflicting needs for spatial mobility and spatial sustainability. A solid theoretical framework is required in which the relevant force fields are depicted. In this framework, relevant scenarios are projected on a model structure. The methodology copes with the conflicting issues in planning for sustainable spatial development. Empirical results are presented from a case study in the Randstad
