Abstract

Marine or brackish water conditions are shown to have prevailed in recent times to distances at least 60 km east of the present head of the delta front. Man's role in shaping the landscape is much more important for the late Holocene growth pattern of the delta progradation than eustatic or tectonic control in an area of high neotectonic activity
