Abstract

The paper uses ideas drawn from the international food regimes literature to explore New Zealand's position as a food and fibre exporter. The British connection and its demise are discussed in the context of the decline of the second food regime. Some current difficulties and future possibilities for agricultural and forestry production are also discussed. Some of the possibilities for New Zealand's engagement with Pacific Asian economies in terms of a third food regime are raised
