Abstract

The AA. analyse the challenges, at the end of the Fordist era, to the French government's strategic choices (development of the nation's ports with a domestic and industrial bias). This period has been followed by a policy of European integration. The AA. outline the beginnings of a renaissance of France's port cities due to the initiatives of the local authorities, and the renewed interest they have shown in their ports and their economic potential
