Abstract

The series of experiments have confirmed that [137]Cs is rapidly fixed to soils and eroded sediments, but also demonstrate that patterns of uptake are not uniform and are, therefore, difficult to predict. Some evidence has been obtained to suggest that preferential [137]Cs transport occurs during and immediately following its delivery to the soil, which could result in a bias in [137]Cs distribution and, hence, increase the bias associated with estimating soil erosion and sediment delivery rates from [137]Cs measurements
