Abstract

The data are based on a survey of migrants to 15 counties which contain or are adjacent to federally designated wilderness areas in USA. These non metropolitan counties were selected with varying social and economic characteristics and they have been among the fastest growing counties in the nation. The AA. find strong support for the impact of wage levels on the choice of amenity destinations. Rents play a significant role in explaining general differences in the choice of destinations of nonlabor force versus labor force migrants
