Abstract

Brief ecological description of the Dakata valley, a granitic mountainous area in the Harerge region. It is an elephant sanctuary believed to contain most of the last 300 individuals of the endemic subspecies, Loxondonta africana orleansi. Somali-speaking people impinge on the sanctuary. - (DWG)
