Abstract

Beginning in the 1970s, a small non-descript village in the Missouri Ozarks has become a major center for country music performances. In 1993, more than five million tourists came there to listen to this music, complementing Nashville, Tennessee 500 km to the east in this role as an entertainment center for the Southern American working class. - (DWG)
